The Telemedicine Guidelines have clarified that it is the patient who will be responsible for the accuracy of the information shared with the doctor, and not the doctor. Our Commitment to Patients and Healthcare Professionals
Pilot/Beta Programme – Version 1.0
Cureboon is designed to facilitate transparent communication and coordination between patients and healthcare professionals while preserving patient autonomy and the independent professional judgment of Registered Medical Practitioners (RMPs).
This Trust Charter describes the principles that guide the Cureboon Platform.
The patient retains the freedom to accept or decline a consultation, referral, investigation, procedure, follow-up, home visit recommendation or other proposed healthcare service.
Where choices are available, the patient's decision should be voluntary and informed.
Cureboon does not require a patient to obtain treatment from a particular doctor, healthcare professional, hospital, diagnostic facility or other healthcare provider merely because that option has been communicated through the Platform.
Cureboon shall not intentionally divert a patient from one healthcare professional to another in exchange for an undisclosed commission, kickback, referral payment or other improper financial incentive.
Where another healthcare professional or service is clinically recommended, such recommendation should be based on the patient's healthcare requirements and the independent professional judgment of the concerned Registered Medical Practitioner.
Cureboon does not direct or control the clinical judgment of Registered Medical Practitioners.
Decisions concerning:
diagnosis;
investigations;
prescriptions;
treatment;
referral;
need for in-person assessment;
emergency referral;
follow-up; and
home visit recommendation
remain matters of independent professional judgment of the concerned RMP.
A doctor may determine that telemedicine is inappropriate and recommend another mode of care where clinically necessary.
Cureboon is a technology-enabled healthcare communication and coordination platform.
The Platform facilitates communication between patients and healthcare professionals but does not itself practise medicine or substitute its judgment for that of a Registered Medical Practitioner.
During the Pilot/Beta Programme, the Platform may permit communication, including messaging or audio-video communication, before payment or before a consultation request is accepted.
Such communication is intended to facilitate communication regarding the patient's proposed management plan.
Opening or participating in such communication does not by itself mean that a formal teleconsultation has been accepted or that a consultation fee has become payable.
Patient information deserves protection irrespective of whether a consultation ultimately takes place.
Applicable confidentiality, privacy, security and data-protection requirements continue to apply to information shared through or in connection with Cureboon regardless of:
whether payment has been made;
whether the consultation is accepted;
whether the consultation is completed; or
whether a prescription is issued.
Where an RMP recommends that a patient may benefit from or require a home visit, Cureboon may provide the communication facility through which that recommendation is conveyed.
Unless Cureboon expressly states otherwise, Cureboon does not itself provide, arrange, assign, supervise, verify or guarantee the home visit or the healthcare service subsequently provided.
The recommendation remains a clinical decision of the RMP, while an independently arranged home visit remains subject to the responsibilities of the persons arranging and/or providing that service.
Cureboon is not a substitute for emergency medical services.
Medical emergencies may not always be identifiable through remote communication or limited clinical information.
Patients experiencing new, worsening or severe symptoms, or who believe that their condition may constitute a medical emergency, should seek immediate appropriate emergency medical care.
Patients should not rely solely on messages exchanged through the Platform or on the absence of an emergency referral recommendation.
Where a consultation or other chargeable Platform service is offered, applicable fees should be communicated through the relevant Cureboon workflow.
Communication through the Pilot/Beta management-plan messaging facility does not by itself make a consultation fee payable.
Cureboon does not permit undisclosed payments intended to improperly influence clinical recommendations or patient referrals.
Healthcare professionals using Cureboon remain responsible for complying with the professional, ethical and legal requirements applicable to their respective practice.
Cureboon expects participating healthcare professionals to maintain appropriate professional conduct, patient confidentiality and respect for patient autonomy.
Cureboon aims to use technology to support—not replace—the relationship between patients and healthcare professionals.
Technology should facilitate access, communication and continuity while recognising the limitations of remote healthcare communication.
Where an in-person assessment is clinically necessary, technology should not become a barrier to appropriate care.
Certain Cureboon features and workflows are presently being evaluated through a limited Pilot/Beta Programme.
Cureboon may refine these workflows based on operational experience, user feedback, patient safety considerations and applicable requirements.
The Pilot/Beta status does not reduce Cureboon's commitment to privacy, responsible Platform operation, transparency or respect for independent professional healthcare practice.
Patient choice. Clinical independence. Transparent communication. Responsible technology. No improper influence over healthcare decisions.
